A little More About Me
My family call me Gordon but my preferred name is definitely Jaime. I live in Stockport, Cheshire with my husband. We are close to the countryside of the Goyt and Ethrow Valleys, not far from the Peak District National Park, and 6 miles south of the City of Manchester.
I am just an ordinary guy - I work hard and sleep a lot! Away from work I enjoy playing and listening to music, shopping, relaxing, and being outdoors. I like stately homes and architecture, wildlife and taking photos. I enjoy going to the theatre and shows, and particularly like to go out for meals.
I’ve been using Apple products for many years, Is currently I have an MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone. Some of the kit is dated so I’m looking to upgrade soon. As always with computers when technology and software changes there is a very steep learning curve, working out what are the best programs and how they work. At the moment I’m trying to understand ‘Sparkle’ to build my website and I use ‘Reunion’ to build and store all my family history information. Ive just bought a MX Master Mouse which has rekindled my playing of RollerCoaster Tycoon - a game that I have played since 1999.
I love family history and can spend hours looking things up on the internet. I hope my family tree will become a useful resource for others researching the "Flintham" and "Fixter" names. I have an interest in researching Arthur Tomkinson Haywood who made some of my extended family beneficiaries to his estate in South Africa. It would be really interesting to find out more information about him and understand how he was related.
My next interest is listening to and playing music. I have been learning how to play keyboards for many years. I have owned several high end instruments, I loved my Yamaha Tyros keyboards and now own a Yamaha Genos 2. It works in conjunction with my iPad. The iPad holds my sheet music in a program called Songbook+ and when it is linked to my keyboard I can programme it to bring forward the settings for a particular song. I have had regular lessons but I’m still very much an improver.
My other hobby is taking photographs. I have lots of pictures taken on various cameras. As digital cameras have developed I have updated and used may different models. I have changed cameras due to weight, size, lenses but regularly go back to Panasonic because I like the colour balance. For me Panasonic travel zooms including TZ40 have been the best choices - perhaps I need to revisit that range again soon. At the moment I am mainly just using my iPhone which does take good pictures.
