Mary Jane Fowler was known as Jinny (comes from Jane-ey), and Thomas Mason emigrated to Canada via the USA before the start of the First Word War. They were both single when they emigrated and they married in Detroit USA before settling across the river in Canada.

Mary Jane Mason her husband Thomas and Son Thomas Robert arrived on 5th May 1915 with Goods and belongings to the value of $350.oo by ferry from Detroit. Thom was 7 months old and was born in Detroit Michigan.

Before leaving England Jinny was in domestic service. Jinny had been in service at a house in Woodhall before moving to work at Hampton Court. I visited Hampton Court Palace on 22 June 2003 and was telling my Dad about my trip. He told me that Jinny had been a "servant" in domestic service at Hampton Court before she emigrated. He said that when Tom Mason her son visited England one of the reasons for his trip was to visit the Palace where his mother had worked.
