Information from Ray Clarke Rayclarke63@hotmail.com He was Ray's Step Grandad - he says he used to call to see him on the way home from school. His last years were spent at Burgh Le Marsh near Skegness, he died in Boston Hospital. He had white hair and smoked a pipe. He had seen service in the Boer war and in the Indo-China War. He started out as a private but was an officer. He was discharged after being shot through the roof of his mouth- he always said that he would never die poor because he hada silver lining in his mouth. He was married three times and had at least one other child called Gwen.
While in the army he trained as an osteopath (bone setter) most of his life he lived at Horncastle, then moved to Boston and finally Burgh.

Email from Ray Clarke.
hi very pleased that we have the same relatives although im not a blood
relation. Ill tell you what i know about GEORGE W FLINTHAM (i supose he was
my step grandad although i didnt know this till recently). I remember him
well and used to call in to see him on my way home from school. His last
years were spent at Burgh le Marsh near Skegness, he died in Boston
hospital.Grandad had a white hair and beard and smoked a pipe. He had seen
service in the boer war and i think in the indo china war,I am told by my
brother that he was an officer but started out as a private. He was
discharged after being shot through the roof of his mouth. he always said he
would never die poor as he had a silver lining in his mouth. My mother (who
is still alive) says he was married 3 times, and there was at least one
other child called gwen.(now passed away). While in the army he was trained
as a bone setter (now known as an osteopath). My brother who is a lot older
than me knows a lot more about him than i do, tells me he was conected with
the Prince of Wales in his capacity as a bone setter. i dont know how i can
trace any conection as im not even sure what regiment he was in, i suspect
it was the Lincolnshires. after leaving the army he did farm work along with
his bonesetting, and was very well known for being very good. he lived in and
around horncastle then moved to Boston and finaly Burgh.I remember  the
racing stables from Newmarket would either fetch him or bring horses for him
to attend to.so he manipulated humans and animals.  Ive got several photos
of him and his wife. I can e mail you a scan of them if you wish.It is
possible i may be able to get more info from my brother. There is a very
interesting story about Alice Robinson .Also lots about arthur. best wishes
