Millicent Hannah FLINTHAM on Oct. 13, 1861 in Bingley Yorkshire(her family was from Cheltenham, Gloucester, so I have no ideawhy they were there). Her father was Benjamin FLINTHAM (occupationin 1861 Railway foreman) and her mother was Mary Anne BROOKS.Her mother Mary Anne died in the march quarter of 1878 in Cheltenhamat age 38. I don't know where either Benjamin went. MillicentI guess went to a home for friendless girls at "St Mary's penitentiary"Coalfell hill, Caldewgate, Cumberland, where she was at thetime of the 1881 census at age 19. Her sister Jessie was at"The Convent" Bath Road, Bedminster, Somerset as a "boarder".
By the 1901 census she was married to a Richard MICHELL andliving in Edmonton Middlesex with her children, John William(Will) RIGBY, b. South Shields, Durham in abt. 1885, aged 16;James RIGBY (Jim), b. in Liverpool Lancashire in about 1888;and Mary Alice RIGBY, b. Durham Gateshead in 1890, age 11; andher niece, Edith FLINTHAM, b. Cheltenham Gloucs in 1890. Soeither Edith was the child of Benjamin or another brother Ihaven't been able to confirm yet. We believe that Millicentwas married 4 times, but have found no certificates yet. Weknow William RIGBY, Richard Michell, and ______ Campbell, butnot the fourth. Her daugther Mary Alice married Albert ThomasBORLEY in Edmonton and then emigrated to Canada and lived outthe rest of her life in Manitoba. She had many children andI'm the grand daughter of her second eldest, Millicent AliceBORELY, b. Swan River Manitoba in 1912, d. 1983 in Calgary,AB. She was raised mainly by her Grannie FLINTHAM (who was MillicentHannah).
